WHAT IS THAT BRIGHT ORB IN THE SKY?

Oh my word--we finally got some sun! We have been socked in with fog, clouds
and rain for 2 weeks straight, so to wake up to bright sun and clear skies was
amazing! I had all 3 patio doors open and the warmth poured in. Talk about
absence making the heart grow fonder...whoever made that up sure knew what
they were talking about.

After dinner we walked down and checked for mail and walked on the beach
when my husband suggested that we go up the mountain behind our house to
see the sunset. It is a 5 minute drive and then a beautiful hike up to the top.
It blows my mind how we can be in the car one minute and at the top of the
world a little bit later.

Of course, the first thing they have to do is scare the poo out of you...

Isn't this pretty...it reminded me of Trilliums in WA state.

"We" (I was halfway up before I realized we were actually
going to hike all the way up) decided to take the primitive trail
to the top rather than use the boardwalk. I think those dots at
the top were other people.

Oh yeah, it's steep. If you click on the picture you can see our boxer
part way up. She was running straight up and then coming back down,
happily running back and forth. I was sitting on a rock gasping for air.

BUT...the views when you turn around are definitely worth the effort!

Farther along the trail...

The trees are windblown. Last week they held the Alpine Run up
here and it was snowing on the runners.

It was so quiet you could hear the wind blowing down the hillside.

A beautiful pond surrounded by a carpet of grass. If you click on
the picture you can see the light reflecting off the dew on the grass like
tiny fairies in a forest.

I don't know if you can see the grin on his face, but it was pretty big. He
worked all day on a kitchen remodel moving heavy cabinets and painting,
but still found the energy to hike up here with us. What a guy!

Taken at 9:30 pm

Not a bad ending to a gorgeous evening, eh?

I want to take pictures in your backyard :( not mine.

Sometime, just for laughs I will take a photo off my backyard... it's the back of the post office in town. Woo hoo!
