IS THAT A BEAR?

Here are a few bear pictures for Molly, a young reader of my blog and
a big bear fan.

These are the 2 resident bear cubs at our town's Fortress of the Bear. You
can read about them here.  Aren't they just so fuzzy and cute?

This bear showed up when the gang was fishing one evening.  The fence
is around the fish hatchery and he is on the other side. He stayed for a
little bit, then wandered away. In the meantime a backpacker came out of
the woods with his fishing pole and my husband (from the boat) warned him
there was a bear in the area. He asked how long he had been gone (about an hour)
so took off the back pack and started fishing. Next thing they see is the back packer's
fishing pole on the ground and him up a tree. He's baaacckkk!

These pictures were taken a few minutes from our house by Tim Shobe. A mother
bear has taken up residence at the bird estuary this last week. If you click on the
photo to enlarge you can see 2 fuzzy brown ears in the grass where she is laying
down. These were taken from the road because the boardwalk has been closed
since she moved in.

She must have heard something because now she is getting up and you
can see one of the cubs behind her.

Uh oh. I hope you have your best running shoes on Mr. Shobe. I have
heard a mother bear with cubs compared to a freight train coming at you--
except with claws.

Fresh tracks on a beach we visited. We also found a whale carcass.

And on the same trip we found this half full can laying on the side of the trail.
Hmmm...makes you wonder where the owner of the can ended up, doesn't it?

Looks like a grizzly with the hump back. They can tear you up! nothing cuddly about a bear except it's photo!
It is so gorgeous where you live.

Karen--you are right! Teddy bears are cuddly--these guys are to stay away from.

Pam--what a great scenario--thanks for the giggle!

Hello LOTH, Thanks for stopping by my blog :-) I'm glad I'm not the only one with laundry issues... always another load ready to come out of the dryer. Sorry you can't have gatos... if it makes you feel any better they are terrible at folding laundry ;-)

The bears are too cute... but I certainly wouldn't want to require a mandatory can of bear deterrent to go fo a stroll.

Kris, This is a note from my Molly:

Dear Miss Kris,
Thank you for the bear pictures. I love the bears and appreciate all of your hard work to put them on my mommy's computer. You are my best friend in the whole wide world. Thank you Miss Kris!
Love, Molly

You are a sweetie!

Becky--of course cats can't fold laundry--they don't have any thumbs! LOL We go for walks here with bear deterrents in the form of a 44 magnum. I don't want to depend on a can of pepper spray to save my life!

Molly--You are my best friend too! Thank you for visiting and here's a big hug from me to you {{{{HUG}}}}
