WE THE PEOPLE AND BUN BUNS

My 7 year old niece had her school's performance of We The People tonight. They sang songs,
performed skits and recited all 50 states and the 43 presidents. Not too bad for all of the kids
5th grade and less!

I was just happy to hear our country portrayed in a positive light. Is anybody else sick and tired
of America being drug through the mud every single day by the media? Yes, we have faults and
yes, we need lots of work to get back on track, but what good does it do to condemn and criticize
day in and day out?

For a pleasant change of pace, try this site. Here is the credo from their website:

"Real News, Compelling Stories, Always Positive" is what you'll find on HappyNews.com.
We believe virtue, goodwill and heroism are hot news. That's why we bring you up-to-the
-minute news, geared to lift spirits and inspire lives. Add in a diverse team of Citizen Journalists
reporting positive stories from around the world, and you've got one happy place for news.

THUD

That's the sound of me jumping down off my soapbox. Thanks for listening.

Our new sunroom is working beautifully these days. The plants are thriving, the resident bun bun
Marshmallow is loving her fresh green treats and contributing her part (hey--manure happens!)
and we are ALL loving the hot tub. My husband made outside beds so it's time to get some spuds
in the ground and see about some mounds for the zucchini. The rhubarb is amazing here; with
all the daylight it goes nuts. Stay tuned for an amazing 3 layer rhubarb pie recipe I will be making
when my sister gives me the rhubarb she says will be ready from her yard next week.

WOW I was so thrilled with day from 6 am till 9 pm here... I had forgotten that way up there in the north you guys do the insane hours... DO you black out bedroom windows? I so miss rhubarb and gooseberries... they just dont grow here well and the stuff you occasionally find in the store just has no taste.
gonna make the oreo cheese cake today... I was going to several days ago and the oreos had been inhaled by my sweerts deprived little children... Big time sarcasm here... love the bunny hes just tooo cute.
Have a great day!
Laura
oh yes... I despise the news and news papers and tabloids they are just horrid in so many ways and so many levels.

watching the news is something I do rarely, too depressing. I do pick my way through the Yahoo headlines. Looking forward to the recipe. I wasn't even going to harvest my rhubarb this year, we never seem to use it. But maybe I will, after all :)

Isn't she a button? I bet she gave a great performance!
I so totally agree with you that I'm sick of all the negativism.
My husband watches some morning news show on Sundays that has a very liberal slant, just to hear 'the other side.' Some guy was saying how unpopular George Bush and the republicans are. I asked my husband, "if you took a survey of everyone of 'reasoning age' in the country, would the results show GWB is all that unpopular?" Mike told me that people aren't happy with Congress, either--and they're a bunch of democrats. So I guess it's government in general that has people upset. But as far as the country herself? I defy anyone to find a better place to live!

Laura--my husband and I have heavy curtains in our room to block the light, but I am having a hard time adjusting right now anyway. He got up to go to the bathroom a couple of nights ago. I started getting up because it was bright light outside and I thought it was morning. I looked at the clock and it was barely 3:50 am!

Niki--I have an excellent rhubarb bread recipe too, so don't let the rhubarb go to waste this year!

Mom2fur--we don't even watch TV at all--the negativity still seems to be everywhere you turn! How about we all just try to better the situation instead of basking in all the bad things? I don't even know what to think about the up and coming elections!!!

Maybe you should get some of those eye covers, like the movie stars used to wear, I forget what they are called. How on earth do you manage when it's dark?
News what news? How about heard a quick radio blurb that somewhere it was ruled today that marraige between one man and one woman is UN constitutional, right. Lord Jesus spare us.
I try and get minimL DOSES of news, and forget TV unless maybe a little of HGTV. i feel so much less stress without it. Everything is politics right now anyway. i'd rather blog and read blogs. There are a lot of people in this world blooming where they are planted and making a difference in this world. Like you.
