GRACED BY A SUNNY WEEKEND

We are finally into the best part of winter--cold, clear and sunny!
It is crisp out, being only in the mid 20's, but we still have only
had a very light dusting of snow and a full moon the last
couple of nights.

We took the dogs for a walk down to the mailbox--here is what
we see when we are at our mailbox. That is our major road in town,
a 2 lane highway that comes to an end a few miles down the road.

A little closer view--if you click on the picture you may be able
to see the snow blowing off the mountain--pretty cool! We have
had a family of otters hanging out in front here for all of last
week. They are so funny with their heads and feet sticking out
of the water while they lay on their backs.

Here is a bit of snow just on the top of the mountain behind
our neighbor's house. Maybe I have been making too many
cakes, but it really does look like powdered sugar to me!

I walked around town a little bit later in the day
and saw this guy looking all happy and festive.

What a glorious view when walking downtown! You sure
have to be careful walking though, it is very icy.

The end of the day was just as pretty with an amazing sunset
that filled the sky with color.

And this picture is for anyone that I have misled into thinking I
am some kind of master baker that never has anything go wrong
when I am cooking.

And to answer your question, yes, as a matter of fact I am still
chipping all that crud off the bottom of my oven.

I'm sorry, Kris, but that really does look totally disgusting. What is it suppose to be? Kinda messy, girl; but I think it's also kind of amazing that one looks like a total disaster and one looks like everything is okay. How did you manage that? Talk to you later.

Jane--that was my first and probably last attempt at baked Plum Pudding. I think 2 things went wrong. One, I used pans that were too small because the recipe I used didn't specify a size and Two, the recipe had me pour melted brown sugar over the top of the batter as it went into the oven? Somehow that ended up at the bottom of the batter as it cooked and bubbled everything up over the sides. They both ended looking like that by the way.

Ohhhhhhh I love the photos! it is SOOOOOOOO beautiful there. I am afraid I woudl literally become a block of ICE however my poor southern thin blood would go into shock! I am so glad to know my oven is not the ONLY one that sees things like this... and I dont believe I would ever attempt plum pudding!

I think I will post the Major Award today!
so please yes post it... YOU totally cracked me up and I have been holding that for several months and timing was perfect:)
I am glad you guys got a kick out of it too and it is one of my favorite Christmas movies too! That's part of why cory got a RED RYDER for christmas last year!

I know I say it all the time - but you live in the most beautiful place! I am chuckling because our temp here this morning is 9 degrees. It is crazy that you are warmer in Alaska than we are! So sorry about your poor oven - I did the same thing with a cobbler not long ago :( It took forever for the burnt smell to go away.

I think it is time for me to light the fireplace and snuggle in for the day. Have a wonderful day with your precious girls.
