GLASS HAT LADY HEAD VASES

These beauties hold a special place in collector's hearts. They are quite unique and rare
in the world of head vase collecting, and it is not unusual for one of these lovelies to
sell in the $2000-3000 range! These are the only head vases originally made with actual
glass hats that sat on top of the vase. You can see there is a bit of design etched on the
glass itself that adds lovely detailing.

These ladies came in a couple of different sizes and poses and there is one model that
has an arm. They were originally made in yellow, green, pink, purple and blue. I just love
how unique these ladies are with their interesting faces and coy pose. Most of them are
wearing dimensional heart earrings and they have a wonderful gold necklace with rhine-
stones in it around their neck.

As you can imagine, the glass hats were easily broken and it is very difficult to find one
of these ladies with the original hat intact. Recently hand blown replacement hats have
become available here so that collector's with just the headvase can have a beautiful
lady in close to original condition again.

This photo is of a pair of lovely glass hat ladies from my friend Gina's collection. She
says: "These 2 Ladies look absolutely stunning in the morning's reflective sunlight."
You can visit Gina's blog here as she writes about collecting lady head vases and enjoying
life in Canada.

The ladies are rare and elusive, but I know they are out there because a friend of mine
came across a lady in blue without her hat for $40.00 in her local antique/rummage store.
So keep your eyes peeled--you never know where one may pop up!

Hi Kris,

Wow! The Green Glass Hatted Ladies do look good together! Thank you for mentioning me in your blog. I did the same in today's blog for you! Plus, if you wish to 'borrow' the photos to add to your photos of the Glass Ladies, please feel free! I have photos of a Green Glass Hatted Lady WITH an arm; and pics from Ebay, of a 'Pink Lady' and a "Blue Lady'.

We had an exhilerating day today; and I am looking forward to making your cabbage soup, before too long! It is cold here; so this will be an extra special added treat!

I know we live in a gorgeous part of the world. I have to confess, so do you! Very lovely pictures...love the idea of walking on the beach, at low tide, in the winter! Glad you are enjoying living there!

Talk soon; and thanks again! Glad it is the weekend!
